The research program is interdisciplinary and covers a wide variety of themes, such as the study of the text and transmission of the Apophthegmata in various languages, the history and role of education in  early monasticism and its roots in classical paideia, early monastic development of philosophy, and the use of late antique rhetoric in early monastic texts.
